About Oscar
Oscar concentrates his practice on labor and employment law, workplace injuries, and discrimination and harassment cases, the disputes where an employer's lawyers and an insurance company's adjusters are already working before the injured person has even found counsel.
An El Paso product through and through, Oscar earned his B.I.S. from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2005 before receiving his J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in Lubbock in 2008. He is admitted to practice in Texas and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, the federal appeals court that hears the cases that matter most to Texas workers.
His peers have recognized him repeatedly: selection as a Texas Super Lawyer in 2022 and 2023, listing in Marquis Who's Who for 2023-2024 including its Top Professional - Top Lawyer recognition, America's Top 100 Attorneys in South Texas in 2019, and four consecutive years on the Texas Rising Stars list from 2015 to 2018. The Mexican American Bar Association honored him with its Outstanding Attorney Award, and he serves on the Texas Pattern Jury Charges committee for General Negligence and Intentional Personal Torts, helping shape the very instructions Texas juries hear. He is also a 2011 graduate of the State Bar of Texas Leadership Academy.
At MIJ Law, Oscar prepares every file as if it will be tried, and clients work with him directly, in English or Spanish, from the first consultation through resolution.
